about

Broz Rowland was approached mid-nineties by Dan Stafford to cut a demo of some songs he had written. The second he heard Dan sing his first few lines into the mic he knew he wanted to sign him to a production deal! And he did. Within four weeks of that day they were ninety per cent into finishing this album--Angels Whisper.

What followed is one more sad tale in the annals of the music industry.

As Broz was returning to Denver from a tape shopping trip to NYC to happily report interest from several labels, Dan was was incarcerated for drug related charges and sent off to Lincoln Nebraska to spend a year in jail. The band (aka "The Dreamers") were the same friends and studio musicians that Broz had just finished recording the Rowland Brothers "no sleep for the dreamers" CD with. They were, to say the least, somewhat stymied, non-plussed and devastated.

When Dan got out, a year and a half later, his father had passed away, his girlfriend was now living in Phoenix, where he headed. Rowland was in Denver busy working on other projects and told Dan he needed a few months to wrap things up. He was in fact jazzed to resume the project, not quite sure how they would proceed.

They tried to work long distance but that was taking forever. And then approximately two and a half years from the day that the magic you can hear on this record started, Rowland got news that Dan had passed away from a toxic reaction to medication given to him in a rehab clinic--which he had voluntarily checked himself into!

The Dreamers were sadly not fated to be.

Well, other than this record that is.

Check it out and see if you don't consider that as much a tragedy as we do.
