about

Jon Giyo (John "Guillot" actually but who can spell that?) got his first break recording his songs with legendary Buddy Holly producer, Norman Petty, in Petty's Clovis, New Mexico studio, in 1988. (Petty along with Holly co-authored the Americana mega-hit "That'll Be The Day")

Unfortunately, Giyo's lucky break floundered when Petty tragically succumbed to his bout with Leukemia six weeks into the recording.

Giyo returned to Denver and later solicited the help of songwriter/producer Broz Rowland to pick up and finish his debut solo album. (Rowland had produced the initial demos taken to Petty.)

This album "From Where I Stand" is the result of that collaboration. Giyo has since gone on to co-found-write-and-produce the World Anthem Project.

Meanwhile enjoy some tasty tunes from a descendent (by association and some would argue stylistically) of the "Buddy Holly/Norman Petty musical lineage".
